My question...since Valley Park was closed a few years ago, why does the school district still own it?...to open it again sometime? I know it is being rented by a daycare center, but it makes one wonder if the rent actually pays for the general maintenance of the building/grounds, etc. If they do not every expect it to be used again, why wasn't it sold?
And, obviously, the closing of Valley Park has definitely increased the enrollment at Southdale and others.

it is not unusual for school districts to hold onto closed buildings. why, i am not sure, but i noticed that waterloo schools has several empty buildings that they still own.
wasnt the administration building at one time a school? humbert?
maybe it would just be easier to reopen valley park. i wonder if that is even an option?

I remember a PALS meeting were Dr. Stoakes spoke about this very subject. He said that there was not growth and population in that area to reopen Valley Park.

I agree there are more kids in the cedar hts/valley park area than other areas.
